Jeffrey
Sher is an attorney and shareholder with
FizerBeck. Jeff practices extensively in
the areas of business organizations and
taxation, including representing: (i) physicians and physician
groups with respect to organizational, tax, employment and
business matters, (ii) closely-held
businesses on an on-going basis and in connection
with sales, mergers, acquisitions and other
reorganizations, (iii) executives of public
and private companies with respect to all
aspects of their employment relationship,
(iv) tax-exempt organizations on an on-going
basis and in connection with the organization
of such entities, and (v) individuals in
connection with general tax matters and,
in particular, charitable giving.
Jeff is an
active member of the State Bar of Texas.
Currently, Jeff serves as the Treasurer of the
Health Law Section of the Houston Bar Association.
Formerly, Jeff Served as a Council Member
of the Tax Section of the State Bar and as
the Chairman of the
Tax Exempt Organizations Committee of the Tax Section.
Jeff is also a member of the American Bar
Association and the Houston Bar Association,
in addition to being licensed to practice
law in Colorado. He is a frequent speaker
at professional meetings and conferences.
Jeff serves
as an adjunct professor of law at the University
of Houston Law School where he teaches courses
on tax-exempt organizations.
Jeff received
a B.A. (with honors in history) from Williams
College (Williamstown, Massachusetts) in
1986, a J.D. (cum laude) from Tulane University
School of Law (New Orleans, Louisiana) in
1991, and a LLM in Taxation from the University
of Houston Law School in 1993. Jeff began
his legal career at FizerBeck upon graduation
from law school.
